According to a belief, the cult of Princess Lieu Hanh was created by rice farmers who were extremely poor and were in the need for land and water. She is one of the four chief cult figures worshipped by the Vietnamese people.  Most of the things known about her come from the story, ” Vân Cát Thần Nữ truyện,” written by a female Vietnamese poet, Ðoàn Thị Ðiểm. The poetess portrayed her as a powerful goddess and an emancipated feminist.
